attending club get- togethers and taking photographs, should select a few of their favorites to send
to her for use on the website and
possibly be included in the annual.

all that the Specialty is just around the corner
and donations are needed for trophies.

...and
we continue to “be seen”. I took Ace to
the bank where he sat and stayed on command, though dying for attention and
some men in line behind us remarked on Ace’s good behavior.
We
did something different at the Therapy Dog Program. Four dogs were on a sit stay, two on either
side of the room facing each other with a line of leashes in between. The goal, as always, was to pass each other
as their owners recalled them. This
time, the dogs were to do a down on the mid-line. All the dogs did very well, but only Josie
succeeded in touching the line of leases in her down. Josie has had trouble getting her third leg

On May 25, we took part in the Coos Bay
Memorial Day parade with Furry Friends Therapy Dogs, Inc. an organization which I co-founded. Matilda is the only Staffy and I
always get questions about her from the spectators.

In addition, during the first part of May, we gave
presentations to two elementary schools about dog safety and owner
responsibility (total 870 children).
On May 10, we held a Canine Good Citizen test in
Several times a month we visit various nursing homes
as therapy dogs. Matilda is always a hit
with the older residents.

Final Note
After receiving so much positive feedback on the
great articles submitted by members, I want to encourage all the SBTCPS members
to send their favorite dog pictures and stories in, (rc.torres@netzero.net, or roncontorres@gmail.com), to let the rest of the world know why Staffys are the best.
