Seattle Kennel Club’s Meet the Breed at Quest Field Events Center

 

The SBTCPS has another wonderful opportunity to man a Meet the Breed Educational Booth on Saturday and Sunday (March 8^th and 9^th).  If you wish to join the fun, please contact Coleen Case at (425) 413-1781, or coleenblaze@msn.com to volunteer for a 2-hour shift on either Saturday or Sunday.  We introduce the public to the breed and our own dogs and answer all their questions.  The last shift on Sunday gets to break down the booth and take it home.  The Club will also participate in the yearly Meet the Breed Parade Event on Saturday.  The schedule for this event will be available in March.

 

Change is in the Air

 

Our St. Patrick’s /April Fools event has a new name and location.  The ‘Staffy Spring Fling’ will take place on April 12^th at the Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell.  Information on what to bring to this shindig, times and directions will be included in the February newsletter.

Staffy Story for January

 

 

Ch Shackstaff Play’N for Peanuts, aka Schroeder

 

Three years ago, a groomer in a large pet supply store, Bethany Dalton, was at work, facing the harrowing task of shaving a disgruntled cat.  With grim determination she approached the holding pen where a silently smoldering feline hunched, waiting to spring, claws first.  As her hand touched the cage, her sheepish assistant lost his nerve, proclaiming, “Look!  Puppies!  Be right back” and quickly fled.  A trusting Bethany waited several minutes but finally went looking for him when he failed to return.  What she found was a baby Schroeder in the arms of her assistant.  This bundle of joy and his siblings had come to the store for their baby shots.  Bethany, who had been resolute in her desire to find the perfect Rottweiller, gazed down at the fury bundle and could not resist – it was love at first sight. 

 

As the weeks and months past, Bethany says she and her mother, Marji, came to appreciate the qualities that made Schroeder a Staffordshire Bull Terrier: his trustworthiness, his infectious smile and his incredible sense of humor, “Rottie’s just don’t make you laugh the way Staffys do”.

 

Some day I will have to ask Bethany if she and her assistant ever got back to that cat…
