Secretary’s Report

Connie Torres handed out copies of the meeting minutes from November 18.  After review, the minutes were accepted.

Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer, Cassie Malloy submitted the Treasures Report for 2007.

Cassie also stated that many have renewed their membership but requested that a Membership Renewal Form be included in the January Newsletter.

Director’s Report

Kristy Strunks reported that she and Coleen Case had been working to finalize the Annual Magazine and that Coleen would be taking it to the printers this week.  Kristy estimated that the Annual would be ready some time in February.

Breed Rescue

Jenny Merritt reported that Thornton and Angelique Alberg had picked up a dog who’s owners needed help in placing their dog.  After carefully accessing Kirby, the Albergs made the trek to Goldendale, WA, to meet with Ralph Trinka, Kirby’s new owner.  Jenny said that Ralph was thrilled with his new dog and found her to be very sweet and well trained.

Breed Legislation

Cassie Malloy reported that the House Bill reported on in the minutes for November has gone nowhere and has been repeatedly condemned as a “Pit Bull Bill”.

Seattle Kennel Club, Meet the Breed

Connie Torres presented an invitational form received from The Seattle Kennel Club to participate in the Meet the Breed Parade event.  It was agreed that Saturday, March 8th would be the day the Club would participate in the parade event.  Jenny stated that the schedule for this event would be available on the AKC website one week prior.

Cassie Malloy, who received an invitational form to reserve booth space for the Meet the Breed Educational Booth, volunteered to complete and return both forms.  Cassie Malloy

announced that Coleen Case would set up on March 8th and be a focal point for scheduling time slots in the booth.

Cassie suggested the booth for the 2009 Seattle Kennel Club Meet the Breed event have new decorations.  Kristy Strunks suggested that the board ask Angelique Alberg to do the revamping.

Changes to the Club’s Annual Spring Event

Jenny Merritt suggested, instead of a St. Patrick’s or April Fools meeting, that the name be changed to, “Staffy Spring Fling”.  With all in agreement, an April 12th date was set.  Cassie Malloy suggested changing the venue to the Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell.  All agreed to this change in location and Cassie said she would call to make the arrangements.

Completed Trophy

Marji Haley presented Jenny Merritt with the Best Veteran’s in Sweeps trophy with a plaque reading, “2007 Trugrip Silk Stockings” affixed to its side.
