President’s Report
President Jenny Merritt called the meeting to order.
Jenny commented on the great response the National Specialty got and that many people stated that they have added this event to their yearly calendar.
Vice President’s
Report
Jim Malloy had nothing to report and stated that 2007 had been a good year for the club.
Secretary’s Report
Connie Torres handed out copies of the meeting minutes from November 18. After review, the minutes were accepted.
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer, Cassie Malloy submitted the Treasures Report for 2007.
Cassie also stated that many have renewed their membership but requested that a Membership Renewal Form be included in the January Newsletter.
Director’s Report
Kristy Strunks reported that she and Coleen Case had been working to finalize the Annual Magazine and that Coleen would be taking it to the printers this week. Kristy estimated that the Annual would be ready some time in February.
Breed Rescue
Jenny Merritt reported that Thornton and Angelique Alberg
had picked up a dog who’s owners needed help in placing
their dog. After carefully accessing
Kirby, the Albergs made the trek to
Breed Legislation
Cassie Malloy reported that the House Bill reported on in the minutes for November has gone nowhere and has been repeatedly condemned as a “Pit Bull Bill”.
Connie Torres presented an invitational form received from The Seattle Kennel Club to participate in the Meet the Breed Parade event. It was agreed that Saturday, March 8th would be the day the Club would participate in the parade event. Jenny stated that the schedule for this event would be available on the AKC website one week prior.
Cassie Malloy, who received an invitational form to reserve booth space for the Meet the Breed Educational Booth, volunteered to complete and return both forms. Cassie Malloy
announced that Coleen Case would set up on March 8th and be a focal point for scheduling time slots in the booth.
Cassie suggested the booth for the 2009 Seattle Kennel Club Meet the Breed event have new decorations. Kristy Strunks suggested that the board ask Angelique Alberg to do the revamping.
Changes to the
Club’s Annual Spring Event
Jenny Merritt suggested, instead of a St. Patrick’s or April
Fools meeting, that the name be changed to, “Staffy
Spring Fling”. With all in agreement, an
April 12th date was set.
Cassie Malloy suggested changing the venue to the
Completed Trophy
Marji Haley presented Jenny Merritt with the Best Veteran’s in Sweeps trophy with a plaque reading, “2007 Trugrip Silk Stockings” affixed to its side.
