January 8, 2008 Meeting Minutes were reviewed and accepted

President’s Report

Jenny Merritt said the Annual looks beautiful.  Kristy Strunks printed a mock up for final corrections, which was a great idea.

Plans are well underway for the Specialty Show Weekend, August 22, 23, and 24th.  We will once again have an SBTCA Region IV Specialty on Friday, with our SBTCPS Specialty on Saturday, and an SBTCA supported entry on Sunday.  Location is Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington.

Judges are Lydia Coleman Hutchinson on Friday, with Peter Snow from England doing sweeps.  On Saturday, Jeannine Dowell is judging the regular classes with Kim Washington doing sweeps - so get out your pups and veterans to show these judges a great entry!

Cassie Malloy is the show chair for the SBTCPS Specialty and Jenny Merritt will chair the SBTCA events.  The club has, once again, invited back the team of Marji Haley, Bethany Dalton and Jenny Merritt to secure trophies for all the events.  We will need many volunteers for the various committees, so if you would like to help, please contact Cassie or Jenny.  There will be more updates each month, so stay tuned for lots of information coming your way!

Vice President’s Report

In a quiet, calculated tone, one eyebrow cocked, Jim Malloy commented on the fact that he was but a hair dryer in a bathtub away from being President.

Secretary’s Report

Connie Torres reminded attendees the next newsletter will be via an email distribution.

Treasurer’s Report

Cassie Malloy gave the club’s bookkeeping totals, which are available on request.  Cassie stated there was a small monetary loss on this year’s annual.  Attendees agreed that the annual is a quality production and it will continue.  Jenny Merritt suggested more time and effort be spent on publicizing next years annual.

Cassie Malloy provided a report on the club’s current 49 members.  There were several names read that had not signed up yet but these individuals will be personally contacted by the club officers.

Director’s Report

Kristy Strunks had nothing to report

May Meeting

A vote was taken; the May club meeting will not take place in Lynden.  Further discussions will be had to finalize the location of this years annual ‘on the road’ meeting.  One suggestion is to consider Oregon.

New Members

Donna McKinney nominated Payton Haggett for membership and the nominee was accepted.

Seattle Kennel Club Breed Booth and Parade

Cassie Malloy reported that both the booth (for March 8 and 9) and a time slot for the parade are reserved.  The posted parade schedule will be on the Seattle Kennel Club website the week of the event.  Cassie went on to say Coleen Case had indicated there were still vacant booth time slots on Sunday, March 9.  Everyone wanting to volunteer for a time slot, whether with or without a dog, should contact Coleen Case.

It was announced that Angelique Alberg has agreed to redesign the 2009 Breed Booth and Marci Day has agreed to help.

Staffy Spring Fling

Cassie Malloy stated that time is reserved at The Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell on April 12, beginning at 12:00p.m.

New Business

Suggestions made for minor changes to the club logo: enlarge the dog, or substitute another dog or enlarge the space needle.  Jenny Merritt agreed to take the action to speak to Dana Merritt about changes.  Changes, if made, should to be complete before Trophies for the Specialty are ordered.  Cassie Malloy suggested and the other attendees agreed, a new club banner be acquired sporting the updated logo.  Both Cassie and Jim Malloy reported that the current banner was worn (print coming off) and inexpensive to replace.

Kristy Strunks reported that the Webmaster, Rod Case, has requested that the club update the website.  Kristy volunteered to do this, beginning with a list of events and Connie Torres volunteered to help.  Jenny Merritt said she would get a list of dates for meetings at the Police Dept. and request pictures from Dana Merritt, and Kristy Stunks volunteered to forward Specialty information.

Donna McKinney reported that the club might be interested in participating in the Seattle Animal Shelter’s Fury 5K.  No date has been posted for this event.
