Once upon a time a little puppy came to live with me

He began to grow up and learn new things

After a few months he got to go to a party to see his brothers

After about a year because he was such a good dog my parents decided to get a Stafford. He helped greet a new puppy (Aga) into their home. They became best friends.

Things were good for the next two years, Blaze was an only child yet from time to time could visit Aga and teach her new tricks. And then a friend decided to get a Staffy and the whole process started over again. Tara came into our lives.

And now a pattern was beginning to form. Blaze became the "big brother" to more puppies as other friends got Staffys.

After all this experience at teaching new puppies the tricks of life we decided it was time to do it seriously. I began to do volunteer work with the Prison Pet Partnership Program at the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Purdy. This program trains young dogs to be service dogs. Through this program Blaze has had the opportunity to make many new friends and pass along key aspects of his knowledge.

All of this training and mentoring certainly brought out the best in Blaze. He taught and helped others while he in return learned patience and socializing skills. This then led to the next big effort - - training for becomeing a full fledged Therapy dog. He took his lessons seriously and in October of 2003 he passed with flying colors.

All of this was well and good, life was stable and there was time to rest and casually play with a toy.

And THEN "it" happened, Mom decided he needed a little sister! Along came Star

Trugrip Center Ice Star
born 02/25/2004

So what is next? Stay tuned for further adventures and accomplishments of Blaze and his little sister Star.
Update - - Spring 2006.
Star has taken to the show ring and done well. At the rip old age of 14 months she had her major win at the 2005 Lynden show with Mrs. Elaine Young as the judge and handled by Jenny Merritt.
Her second major win came three months later at the Nisqually K.C. show. Judge Mr. Desmond Murphy picked her from an entry of 10 bitches as the best.

In February 2006, at the age of 2, Star received her International Champion title. On Saturday the American judge (Mr. Dana Plonkey) rated her V1/1st Place. The Canadian judge (Mr. Larry Kerluke) also rated her V1/1st place. On Sunday another American judge (Ms. Jane Reppolo) judged her V1/2nd place.

But there is more to Star than being a ring "Star". She continues to be a companion for Blaze and other friends. But best of all, at times just being a house companion.

Blaze is continuing with his therapy work and made his first school visit in 2005 for a class of 6th graders at Twin Lakes Elementary. Thank you Natalie Partington for inviting us.

While all of this was happening we also found time to move into a new house in Maple Valley. Not long after the move we entertained some friends with a Halloween comtume party.

Update - - Fall 2006.
On July 1, 2006 Star became a Champion! Judge Mrs. Vandra Huber awarded Star both Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Bell Vernon show.
